Free Introductory Meeting on the Transcendental Meditation technique
Wednesday, March 9, at 7:00 pm, at the Northville Yoga Center
This meeting is the first step in learning the TM technique. We cover all of the prerequisites for starting the course at this time:
* What TM is, and what the benefits are
* Discuss how TM works
* Describe some of the scientific research that has been done on TM
* Explain how it differs from other techniques
* Explain the tradition of knowledge that TM comes from
* Describe how TM is taught, and the four-day course (1.5 hours each day)
There’ll also be plenty of time for questions and answers. And you’ll be able to sign up for a course at the end of the meeting.
The talk on TM will be given by Thomas Frank, a Certified Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique in Ann Arbor, MI. Thomas has been a teacher of TM for 35 years and he spent 11 years doing TM meditation and also yoga in the Himalayan Mountains of India (in Uttar Kashi and Rishikesh). He has been practicing TM for 40 years.
You can contact Thomas Frank at 734-972-2592, or at tfrank@TM.org.
Sunday, May 18, 5 – 6:30 pm
To celebrate and honor the women in our lives who have inspired, encouraged and guided us. Beginning with a brief yoga practice and meditation, followed by a sharing of recollections and conversation.
In this month of May, we honor our mother, the woman who gave us life. Since the mystical moment of physical birth, our spiritual being continues to be shaped by our mothers, and also by encounters and relationships with many women who come into our lives, perhaps for a pivotal moment or perhaps sharing our lives for an extended time. Through their actions, influence and sometimes simply by the power of their very being we grow and develop. We may become kinder, stronger, more insightful, more patient, more giving, more confident, more independent; more fully who we were created to be.
Join us in the celebration of our spiritual guides as we affirm each of them and their impact on our lives. Bring a memento, recollection, photo or poem to use in our celebration.

El Sueño – The Dream – is an exciting and wonderful partnership between a dedicated group of volunteers from Bridgepointe, and Detroit’s Finest (a nonprofit organization that brings health and athletics to Detroit youth), and about 80 hard-working fourth grade students at Academy of the Americas in southwest Detroit. The dream includes supplying a new uniform, backpack, and school supplies for each child as well as software, weekly mentoring and paid tutoring, if necessary. Field trips as far away as Lansing and as close as historic Fort Wayne in Detroit, offering writing workshops, visiting musicians, and swim lessons all are part of El Sueño.
Will you help with this enriching effort to support broadening the horizons of these fourth graders? More information atbridgepointenonprofit.org and at northvileyogacenter.com and facebook.
